Be Still & Know That HE Is God

I think I've already shared this, but lately I've been struggling a lot with a big decision. A very big one. One that will, in many ways, determine my future, my family's future, and our quality of life for quite some time. I won't lie, I have struggled with so much anxiety and even weariness from the weight of this decision. My greatest anxiety has been that my husband and I will make the wrong decision, that we will be making a decision out of our will for our lives instead of the Lord's. I once heard someone say that the scariest place to be is outside God's will, and I agree with that completely. To me, this decision, like so many others in life, boils down to My Way, or God's Way. But what do you do when you don't know which way God's way is? Therein lies my dilemma. I was born again nine months ago, so I'm a pretty new Christian. That makes this more challenging. I read The Word every day, I'm in church every week because I need to b...

Pleasing God? Great, But Get Ready for Battle!

The Lord has been doing amazing things in my life lately and I honestly can't wait to share! My husband and I were baptized in the Holy Spirit three weeks ago, we got married two weeks ago and decided to wash each other's feet like Jesus did for his disciples (which The Lord used to touch a lot of people), my husband and I have been drawing more near to Jesus each day, and we are both noticing how our desire to learn about Him and please Him is becoming our main focus. God has become the lens through which we view our lives and all our activities, but that has opened our eyes to exactly why the Christian life can be so challenging, and confusing, to walk out. Both Shawn and I knew the Christian life would be awesome and very rewarding, but we are starting to see where a lot of the challenge comes in. More than a few people made fun of our decision to wash each others' feet at our wedding. People always mock the things they don't understand but knowing that didn't ...

God Loves You, Yes YOU!

Image
I gave my life to The Lord and received his Holy Spirit on December 20, 2013. Since that time the veil has been lifted from my eyes and I have begun to see the world in a whole new way. I see blessings in every moment, reasons to be grateful in some of the worst circumstances, the miracle of creation and child birth, the Holy Spirit's work in my own life, overwhelming sadness when I see others in pain, and so much conviction in regards to sin. My heart has been cracked wide open, and love for everyone has begun to pour forth. I find myself praying for people all the time, for all those who are still living in darkness, and I continually pray that the world will see less of me and more of Jesus coming out of Kim every day. I'm learning the significance of worship, I'm learning to put God first every day (though the Devil still tries to convince me other things are more time-sensitive/important), I now crave time in his Word more than anything I used to, I'm looking into ...

What I Never Knew I Was Missing - THE HOLY SPIRIT!

Image
It's amazing to me how ignorant I was before I became saved, as we all are. Scripture says exactly what I was in so many places - a fool. I grew up in the Catholic Church with faith that was passed down to me by my mom and for a long time my faith was very strong. After she passed away and I entered my college years, however, I began to wander off. I just "got busy." I stumbled on yoga and began to heal from grief and several relationship wounds in classes. I learned to connect with myself, but that was only going to take me so far. Then I started attending church again when I found out I was going to have a baby, which was when everything changed. I started "church-shopping" for something that felt more real, more passionate, and not quite so "rehearsed." But nothing in the Catholic sector was cutting it for me anymore. In some ways, it never had. I just didn't feel a personal connection with Christ in any Catholic churches and I wanted that so ba...

Taming the Tongue

Image
The Holy Spirit has been strongly convicting me in regards to my tongue lately. If you know me, you know that I talk...a lot! I also talk very fast (some claim I don't actually have to breathe when I talk). I'll tell you, I always thought my ability to talk fast was a gift. I figured I would wind up as a radio broadcaster, an insurance salesman, or hopefully a motivational speaker one day, simply because of my ability. When I became a yoga instructor and was responsible for memorizing and reciting 30 pages of dialogue to talk practitioners through a 90-minute class, no one was surprised. I've always loved to communicate, particularly through writer (my dream has always been to become an author and speaker), but I don't know that others have always loved it. Most people laugh at my "ability," but I've also hurt several people with my tongue. Over the years I've become aware of the fact that those who talk more not only have a tendency to say too much, ...

Gods Ways Are Not Ours

Image
I'm currently reading the book of Exodus. Today during my time in the Word, God revealed something pretty amazing to me.  I was beginning to read the story of Moses - how The Lord called him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and what happened when Moses went before Pharaoh with God's order.  I admit that I was frustrated and confused as I read. I was confused by several references to God hardening Pharaoh's heart to not listen to Moses, and frustrated as I read about each plague and all the suffering that came down on His people. Why didn't God just kill Pharaoh? Why did he "harden" Pharaoh's heart, making the whole process harder and longer on everyone? It made no sense to me at first, just as God's ways here on Earth don't make sense to us at first, if at all. I had to keep reading to understand. Exodus 10:1-2: "Then the Lord said to Moses 'Go to Pharaoh for I have hardened his heart and the hearts of his officials so that I may perf...

Walking the Walk

Image
This Christian walk is not always easy. Many people think that Christians experience "the good life" and are exempt from suffering but that isn't true at all. Christians live in the same world as non-believers, a fallen world full of sin. The only difference is that we go to God to help us in times of trial, to grant us his grace, his strength, and his faith. We rely on him rather than ourselves, and that changes everything. In times of trial and tribulation, God wants us to stop focusing so much on our circumstances and more on him. If we seek him and approach him with both prayer and thanksgiving, he will help us. That's a promise. And this past week, I really needed some help. Since I gave my life to God I have been made fun of and mocked in his name, which the Bible tells me to expect and actually rejoice in, but this past weekend I was full-blown attacked for it for the first time. I was blasted as "Little Miss God" and attacked for speaking one way a...
